MSU Broadcasting Services

Description:

MSU's Broadcasting Services, in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences, aims to "educate, entertain, and inform," touching the lives of more than a half-million mid-Michigan residents and the MSU campus with its programming. Broadcasting Services' efforts include:

WKAR-TV, mid-Michigan's public television station;
WKAR-DT, MSU's digital television station;
AM 870 WKAR, which provides news and information with local and national programs, including National Public Radio (NPR);
90.5 WKAR, whose programming includes fine arts, Morning Edition, and All Things Considered;
Interactive Video Services (IVS), which assists MSU faculty and academic units with advanced technologies for instruction, research, and service to connect them with learners throughout the nation and world;
Radio Talking Book (RTB), a specialized broadcast service providing information and programming to those with special needs related to reading the printed page;
'KAR2, a 24-hour service of public TV programs for children and teachers;
'KAR3, a 24-hour TV service for adult learners;
WKAR.org, the Web site companion to the radio and television stations, which hosts schedules, additional information about programs and activities, features 24-hour streaming of WKAR-FM and most of the WKAR-AM program schedule, as well as archives;
WMSU.org, MSU's public service Web casting station;
MAPB/WKAR TV programs, Michigan at Risk and Off the Record with Tim Skubick;
Ready to Learn, a service for families, teachers, and caregivers; and
The Michigan Public Radio Network (MPRN), which provides daily news, public affairs reports, and special broadcasts to all of the state's public radio stations.
WKAR-RRS, The Radio Reading Service for persons who have difficulty reading conventional printed material.
