Early Childhood (ZS) Endorsement Evening, Late Summer, and Condensed Program
The Early Childhood General and Special Education (ZS- formerly ZA) Endorsement is an authorization to teach in any school program preceding or including kindergarten. The courses taken to meet the requirements are part of a planned program and can be used for continuing certification in Michigan. These revised standards reflect the knowledge and skills to teach children from birth to age 8 in general education settings, as well as significant knowledge and skills for teaching children with special needs. Teachers may apply as Lifelong Education students or as Master's candidates in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies. The sequenced courses in the 26 credit ZS program are offered in evening and summer sessions, and can be done in as little as three summers if the prerequisite is done.
