Building a Home with Heart Curriculum - Facilitator's Guide

Description:

The Building a Home with Heart curriculum was developed and tailored specifically to the needs of couples who are raising children from the foster care system. The curriculum development process is dynamic and integrates findings from research and training experiences. The training is relevant for adoptive, foster and kinship couples and can be adapted for special populations.

This curriculum is structured so that the trainer/facilitator can give mini-lectures and receive step-by-step guidance in conducting training activities. Nonetheless it is highly recommended that persons who train the program become trainers/facilitators by completing a “Training of Trainers” program.

Audience:

Social work professionals and adoption/foster care facilitators.

MSU Units/ Partners: MSU School of Social Work, in partnership with Michigan’s public and private child welfare agencies and other key stakeholders.
