Self-care as Professional Self-investment: Mindful Self-care for the Prevention of Secondary Traumatic Stress (February 2018)

Description:

In this training, you will learn to define secondary traumatic stress and the conditions that may expose staff to secondary traumatic stress, and begin to assess your exposure to workplace conditions that may impact your mental health and heart-space. You will be able to identify supports and resources to improve your self-care as well as utilize self-assessment tools for reflection. You will utilize mindfulness techniques for self-care while addressing the holistic needs of the self. You will also be given an opportunity to learn how to assess your self-needs and will be provided resources on how to take care of yourself as a child welfare team member.This training will utilize exercises, small and large group discussions, and visual displays.
