    Description:

    The CHRS program covers an overview of the basic components of human resource systems; the basics of how to attract, retain, and motivate employees; compensation and benefits; how to measure employee and human resources performance; the documentation needed to enhance organizational decision-making and ensure legal compliance; and employee discipline, complaint, and grievance handling. Successful completion of this program and a follow-up examination results in recognition as a Certified Human Resources specialist.

    Description:

    The week-long Certified Workers' Compensation Professional (CWCP) program provides participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to be recognized as a professional in this field. Attendees should have some experience in workers' compensation. Seminar topics include Principles of Disability Law; Claims Management & Insurance; Safety; Disability Prevention and Management Issues; and Medical Issues. 

  • Follow-Up Program for Certified Workers' Compensation Professionals (May 2018)

    Description:

    The Follow-Up program includes formal presentations, discussion groups, and exercises. It gives an opportunity to reunite with your classmates and share your experiences. We will repeat the popular Panel of Experts and Group Problem Solving sessions in which we discuss solutions to problems you have submitted. Topics include:

    • Workers' Compensation Updates
    • Coverage of Illegal Immigrants
    • Coordination of Issues in Workers' Compensation
    • CMS/MSA Update
    • Impact of Behavioral Health

    This program earns 14 continuing education credits towards CWCP and CHRS recertifications.

    Taught by MSU’s master’s-level faculty and leading real-world experts in workforce management and employee development, the program covers everything from essential HR management skills to proven strategies for inspiring high-performance talent. You’ll learn to capitalize on the strategic role HR management plays in how a company survives and thrives. And you’ll develop the tools to effectively align HR processes with organizational objectives.

    This professional development program consists of two eight-week courses in succession - Human Resource Management and Workforce Management and Development - for a total of 7 Continuing Education Units (3.5 CEUs per course).
