  • Clinical Research Trials Management Online Certificate Program

    Description:

    The Graduate Certificate in Clinical Research Trials Management (CRTM), was created in response to the increased need and demand for a qualified, educated workforce that can provide a range of supportive roles and services in the fields of clinical research and translational medicine (TM).  The purpose of the CRTM graduate certificate program is to build a clinical research workforce  to meet growing local, state, national, and, potentially, international current and future employment market demands.  The courses that comprise the CRTM certificate program reflect the requisite knowledge and skill sets to qualify graduates to seek employment in the field.

  • Medical Marijuana: Benefits, Risks, and Pain Management (March 2018)

    Medical marijuana has been legal in Michigan since 2008, however there is still confusion and concern over the role that medical marijuana has in our state. As human service professionals, it is important to develop an awareness and understanding of its benefits to health and pain management. In addition, it is important to understand the role of medical marijuana in substance abuse treatment. In this workshop, you will learn about the benefits and risks of medical marijuana use. You will also define the healing and numbing factors related to use of medical marijuana, especially as they relate to pain management.

  • Working with Aging Transgender Individuals in Healthcare Settings (April 2018)

    Description:

    Transgender individuals face numerous barriers to receiving sensitive, high quality healthcare services. In particular, elderly or aging transgender individuals may have unique health concerns and may be vulnerable to bias, discrimination, and other negative experiences in inpatient, long term care, or other healthcare settings. This workshop will highlight common concerns for aging transgender individuals seeking healthcare, as well as, what social workers can do to promote culturally sensitive practices in both clinical care and through improving organizational policies and procedures.
