    Description:

    Sometimes your work is best shared as a website. There are lots of options for web publishing that don’t require you to write code. Whether you’re curious about specific web platforms (like WordPress, Drupal, Omeka, and Scalar), or you’re brand new to web publishing, this workshop will walk you through what each of these platforms are for, their strengths and weaknesses, and how they might be applicable to your work. No coding experience or laptop required.

    Description:

    Matrix, the Center for Digital Humanities and Social Sciences at Michigan State University, is devoted to the application of new technologies for teaching, research, and outreach. As one of the premier humanities computing centers in the United States, Matrix creates and maintains online resources, provides training in computing and new teaching technologies, and creates forums for the exchange of ideas and expertise in the field. Matrix houses major digital library repositories including to the African Online Digital Library (AODL), Detroit Public Television’s American Black Journal video archives, Historical Voices, and the Quilt Index.

  • Mid-Michigan Health Impact Assessment Toolkit

    Description:

    Health Impact Assessment is defined as a combination of procedures, methods, and tools by which a policy, program, or project may be judged as to its potential effects on the health of a population, and the distribution of those effects within the population. HIA identifies appropriate actions to manage those effects.  The HIA Toolkit helps support the HIA process by providing free access to environmental and health data to planners, decision makers, and the public; mapping and visualization applications; and assessment of impacts that will showcase how to integrate an assessment of public health impacts within a greater, dynamic movement towards sustainability in our region.

  • Midwest Invasive Species Information Network

    Description:

    The Midwest Invasive Species Information Network (MISIN) is a regional effort to develop and provide an early detection and rapid response (EDRR) resource for invasive species.  The goal of this regional resource is to assist both experts and citizen scientists in the detection and identification of invasive species in support of the successful management of invasive species.

    Description:

    The James and Mary Quello Center is focused on stimulating and informing debate on media, communication and information policy for our digital age. The Quello Center’s research often challenges taken-for-granted assumptions about the role of technology, policy and regulation in society. The Center’s researchers value collaboration across Michigan State University and with other centers of excellence focused on issues that arise from the political, social and economic visions and realities of the Internet and related technologies and policies of (un)networked localities, nations, and societies around the world.  The Quello Center lectures bring invited speakers who address issues of digital communication and media in the political and social realm.
