  • Michigan Stained Glass Census Website

    Description:

    The MSU Museum sponsors the Michigan Stained Glass Census Website. By researching and recording information about the origins, styles, and subject matter of architectural stained glass, the Census is creating an invaluable resource of visual and documentary material related to Michigan's social, religious, and art history. The Census also encourages individuals and groups to better appreciate and preserve the stained glass treasures in their own communities. The Web site features a comprehensive list of registered stained glass windows. Information about the history and artists of certain windows is available under the Window of the Month feature. Other features include online and downloadable registration forms, a listing of stained glass-related objects in the MSU Museum collection, information about the quarterly e-mail newsletter, a stained glass bibliography, and links to many windows in Michigan and elsewhere.

    Description:

    MSU Museum’s commitment to society as a land-grant university museum is met through education, exhibitions, research, and building and stewardship of collections that focus on Michigan and its relationship to the Great Lakes and the world beyond. The Museum showcases permanent exhibits such as Heritage Hall, Hall of Animal Diversity, Habitat Hall, and Hall of World Cultures, along with many new and changing exhibits. Additionally, the Museum is participating in events and programs that focus on children and may be of interest to K-12 teachers, including the Teacher Resource Program, the Dinosaur Dash and Hello Halloween. Group tours to the Museum, as well as Virtual Tours from the comfort of your own classroom, are also available.

    MSU's University Archives and Historical Collections collects, preserves, and makes accessible for research the historical records of the University as well as manuscript collections including faculty and alumni papers, organizational records, and historical document collections. In addition to university publications, Archives houses historical collections originating from individuals, families, organizations, institutions, and businesses. These materials consist of papers, records, photographs, documents, correspondence, and other materials. Additionally, there are audio-visual collections, photograph collections, and a general reference collection.
