  • Demmer Shooting Sports Education and Training Center

    Description:

    This 24,000-square-foot, multipurpose facility supports NCAA shooting programs and team sports, the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP), and hunter safety and 4-H youth programs. It also houses MSU club shooting sports -- including small-bore, air rifle and archery -- and academic programs in shooting sports, law enforcement and related curricula. It accommodates DNR conservation officer and MSU police officer certification training.

  • Human Energy Research Laboratory

    Description:

    MSU's Department of Kinesiology provides testing and evaluation for MSU and the surrounding community through the Human Energy Research Laboratory (HERL). The Laboratory's researchers work with MSU Sports Medicine to perform cardiopulmonary and body composition analyses for various varsity athletic teams. MSU students who are involved with the HERL participate in some services that the Laboratory provides for the community. They also receive referrals from MSU Sports Medicine and other clinics and health clubs.

    The Spartan Youth Programs Website is a catalog of the programs and activities MSU offers to preK through 12th graders on a variety of topics, including: agriculture; animal care; art, drama, and music; business; college preparation; computers; engineering; leadership skills; math and science; social studies; sports and fitness; and writing and language.

  • Sports Skills Program for Persons with Disabilities

    Description:

    MSU's Department of Kinesiology has developed the Sports Skills Program for children and adults with disabilities who reside in the greater Lansing area. The program offers coaching and instruction in sports skills. Sports offerings vary with semester. with an opportunity to improve their skill and fitness, whether they are preparing for competition or are simply interested in having fun and achieving better health and physical well-being.

  • The Institute for the Study of Youth Sports

    Description:

    MSU's Institute for the Study of Youth Sports in the College of Education researches the benefits and detriments of participation in youth sports. It produces educational materials and provides educational programs for parents, coaches, officials, and administrators.
