    Description:

    MSU's Center for Advanced Study of International Development (CASID) promotes and coordinates the work of faculty and students interested in developing countries from the perspectives of the social sciences and liberal arts. CASID has a strong commitment to its outreach mission serving K-12 teachers and students, post-secondary institutions, government, and business.  Outreach resources include: Publications; K-12 Outreach (LATTICE); Midwest Institute for International/Intercultural Education; International Business Institute for Community College Faculty, and International Business Center (CIBER). 

     

  • Diagnostic Center for Population and Animal Health Diagnostic Testing Services

    Description:

    The Diagnostic Center for Population and Animal Health brings together ten MSU labs that make up Michigan's only comprehensive animal health diagnostic center. The Center works in collaboration with the State of Michigan, public health officials, private practice veterinarians, livestock producers, and others in the farming community to protect humans and animals from disease and toxic substances. The new facility consolidates labs, offices, and classrooms into a single structure where over 1.5 million diagnostic tests are conducted each year on samples to determine the presence of such diseases as bovine tuberculosis, West Nile virus, and chronic wasting disease. The Center is also considered a front line of defense in detecting biological and chemical agents used in bioterrorism against U.S. animal agriculture.

  • Institute of International Health

    Description:

    The mission of the Institute of International Health (IIH) is to foster and enhance the opportunities for
    faculty and students to create, innovate, and transform international transdisciplinary health research,
    health development projects, and academic interest in global health. IIH works with all of the medicine and health-related colleges, as well as with agricultural, engineering, social and environmental scientists and nutritionists to foster and coordinate research, education, and development at a global level. IIH also collaborates with Michigan-based hospitals affiliated with MSU’s College of Osteopathic Medicine to raise awareness of global health issues and help improve clinical services and health outcomes for underserved regions of the world.

  • Online Master's Degree Program in Public Health (In moratorium until 2020)

    Description:

    A key feature of the Program in Public Health (PPH) at Michigan State University (MSU) is the emphasis on applied knowledge. PPH students are engaged in course work and practical training to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform as a public health professional in the United States and internationally. Students may select a variety of courses as electives or choose to earn a graduate certificate in an area of concentration. Each certificate identifies which elective courses are required. All program electives are offered online. With prior program approval, the majority of 400 or higher level courses offered by MSU, with direct relevance to the field of public health (whether offered online or in the traditional classroom setting) can qualify as an elective.
