    Today’s firms face increased competition and pressure to deliver sales and profits.  Many firms are seeking strategies to get the customer more involved in the sales process, thus reducing the time and energy by companies to generate sales. While this may produce beneficial short-term benefits, what are the long-term effects on customer retention?  This session identifies ways to connect with our current customers to satisfy their needs, increase loyalty, generate positive word of mouth, and ultimately increase sales, profits, and increase our customer base.

  • Business and Bagels: Reducing Stressors in the Workplace (January 2018)

    Description:

    Stress can lead to harmful and undesirable outcomes such as absenteeism, lower productivity, and substance abuse.  In this session, Angela Hall will discuss several simple and effective means for employers to lower employee stressors while increasing employee motivation and productivity.

  • Gast Business Library

    Description:

    MSU’s Gast Business Library supports the business-related instructional, research, and public service programs of the students, faculty, and staff. The Library maintains a circulating collection of approximately 55,000 volumes on business and hospitality related topics. In addition, the Business Library supports an extensive reference collection of current materials, including statistical information and numerous sources of directory information. The Library subscribes to approximately 900 journals and periodicals, and provides access to both current and back issues. The Library also provides a special collection of corporate SEC filings on microfiche, including annual reports, 10-K reports, and proxy statements. Non-university patrons are able to obtain borrowing privileges by applying for a community card, with proper identification.

  • Global Festival: Travel the World in One Day (November 2017)

    Description:

    The Global Festival offers the opportunity to explore cultures from around the world. Every year, international students participate in showcasing their home country with features such as children's games, international exhibits, and performances.  During the festival, explore the World Gift Shop, which offers a variety of international art works, jewelry, glassware, clothing and a multitude of gift items. Proceeds support the Community Volunteers for International Programs Scholarship Fund, for spouses of international students to attend MSU classes.

  • Great Lakes Fruit, Vegetable, Farm Market, and Greenhouse Growers Expo (December 2017)

    Description:

    The Expo is one of the premier trade shows of its kind. There are over 450 exhibitors with displays of everything needed to grow, harvest, and pack fruit and vegetables, as well as an area featuring companies with products and services for farm marketers. Over 75 educational sessions and workshops are offered on such topics as organic production, integrated pest management, and water use issues. Past activities have included a banquet, a reception, a pageant, a showcase, and a full-day bakery workshop. All three days will include educational programming that can be used for education credits and certification.

  • Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center (East Lansing, MI)

    Description:

    MSU's Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center, located on campus, displays a unique atmosphere, with cultural and sporting activities right at its back door. Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center offers state-of-the-art conference facilities, including a 300-seat auditorium and 30 multi-function meeting rooms accommodating groups of 10 to 1,000. When planning an event, the Conference Services department provides personal assistance from beginning to end. The Audio-Visual department also provides equipment and technical assistance. Each of the 165 hotel rooms is beautifully furnished and offers the finest quality accommodations.

  • Management Education Center (Troy, MI)

    Description:

    MSU's Management Education Center is a professional conference, training, and educational facility used primarily for management education and organizational development by business, labor, government, and trade associations. Facilities include a 400-seat auditorium, two 110-seat ampitheaters, four flexible-configuration break-out rooms, three dining rooms, as well as a patio and mezzanine great for receptions and display areas. Roughly 20 percent of its activities involve the Advanced Management Program (Executive MBA) and other executive programs sponsored by The Eli Broad College of Business and The Eli Broad Graduate School of Management. The other 80 percent of the Center’s activities involve corporate and business programs outside the University.

    Description:

    The MSU Libraries collections include more than 4 million volumes, 28,000 serial subscriptions (in print and electronic form), 5 million items in microfilm and microfiche, 200,000 maps and 40,000 sound recordings. The Libraries include extensive holdings in history, the social sciences, languages and literature, area studies, medicine, agriculture, and general sciences as well as several specialized, interest-specific collections.

  • Tollgate Education Conference Center (Novi, MI)

    Description:

    The MSUE - Tollgate Education Conference Center functions as a full service meeting facility ideal for the business and educational community. Situated on a beautiful 160 acre farm, the gardens and pastures at Tollgate provide a natural and peaceful setting for business meetings, receptions, retreats, conferences, workshops and educational classes. The Center includes the Tollgate Conference room which accommodates up to 140 people; the Activity Center, a more casual setting accommodates up to 60 people; the Americana Boardroom, an executive-style formal meeting room for 12 or less; and the Bassett Boardroom for 10 people.
