    Description:

    The Center for Feline Health and Wellbeing promotes feline health and wellbeing and nurtures the relationships between cats, their owners, and their care providers. Some areas of study include idiopathic cystitis, feline cancers, pulmonary fibrosis, feline viral infections, and feline genetics. The mission of this center is four-fold:

    • To discover the causes of the life-threatening conditions that affect cats;
    • To develop new treatment and preventive strategies for them;
    • To learn more about the behavioral considerations, nutrition, exercise, care routines, relationships  with household members, and other factors that contribute to a high-quality of life for cats; and
    • To educate veterinarians and cat owners about how to apply this new knowledge.
  • Laboratory for Comparative Orthopaedic Research

    Description:

    The Laboratory for Comparative Orthopaedic Research (LCOR) is a multidisciplinary research laboratory dedicated to applied basic science research of the musculoskeletal system of humans and animals. LCOR focuses its research on sports-related injuries such as the repair and reconstruction of ligamentous and meniscal injuries of the knee. The Laboratory has investigated and developed several techniques of tissue repair and transplantation that are currently in clinical use in both animals and humans.

  • Molecular Respiratory and Equine Genetics Laboratory

    Description:

    The Molecular Respiratory and Equine Genetics Laboratory researches the molecular mechanisms of inherited diseases in the horse and the genetic predisposition to respiratory tract diseases in all species. A current project focuses on the genetic mechanisms that predispose to asthma, a potentially fatal respiratory disease affecting humans and cats.

  • MSU Training Center for Dairy Professionals

    Description:

    The MSU Training Center for Dairy Professionals provides specialized training, facilities, and demonstration materials for veterinary students, veterinarians, and other professionals working in the dairy industry, as well as an infrastructure for clinical research in the health management of dairy cows. The Center, located at Green Meadow Farms in Elsie, Michigan, makes use of the Farm's large dairy herd, modern facilities, and progressive management techniques, as well as the College's faculty and facilities to provide a cutting-edge, mutidisciplinary approach to dairy management.
