  • Laboratory for Comparative Orthopaedic Research

    Description:

    The Laboratory for Comparative Orthopaedic Research (LCOR) is a multidisciplinary research laboratory dedicated to applied basic science research of the musculoskeletal system of humans and animals. LCOR focuses its research on sports-related injuries such as the repair and reconstruction of ligamentous and meniscal injuries of the knee. The Laboratory has investigated and developed several techniques of tissue repair and transplantation that are currently in clinical use in both animals and humans.

  • McPhail Equine Performance Center

    Description:

    The McPhail Chair was created for research in all aspects of the relationship between veterinary medicine and dressage performance, with special emphasis on prevention and treatment of lameness problems. The goal of the chair is to perform scientific investigations which directly benefit the sport of dressage. The Center holds links to the current research work being done at the McPhail Lab. These links include research projects such as joint movements and powers in normal gait; kinematic and kinetic evaluation of dressage gaits; rider effects; center of mass; and lameness evaluation.

    Description:

    The Molecular Respiratory and Equine Genetics Laboratory researches the molecular mechanisms of inherited diseases in the horse and the genetic predisposition to respiratory tract diseases in all species. A current project focuses on the genetic mechanisms that predispose to asthma, a potentially fatal respiratory disease affecting humans and cats.
