  • Golf Turfgrass Management Certificate Program

    Description:

    This two-year certificate offers training in Turfgrass Management with a golf course emphasis directed toward preparing the student for a career as a golf course superintendent. This 18-month technical training program consists of two 15-week semesters and two 10-week semesters, for a total of 54 credits. A certificate is granted at the completion of the program requirements.

  • Master Citizen Planner Credentialing Program

    Description:

    The Master Citizen Planner (MCP) Program provides advanced skill development and a benchmark for continuing education among Michigan elected and appointed officials and citizen volunteers. The MCP program involves completing the Citizen Planner course of seven core sessions (in classroom or online), passing an examination, developing a capstone project, and meeting continuing education requirements. The MCP designation is an achievement recognized as the standard of excellence among planning officials and community leaders in Michigan, and participants who complete the MCP program receive incentives such as course discounts, exclusive training opportunities, and scholarships for annual conferences and regional training offered by partnering organizations.

  • Michigan Citizen Planner Classroom Program: Macomb County (March - May 2017)

    Dates:

    Class begins on March 9 and continues on Thursday evenings, 6 - 9 p.m., March 16, 23, 29, April 13, 20, 27, and May 4, 2017. There will be no class on April 6, 2017. The May 4 class is not required for the Citizen Planner certificate and may not be used as a substitute for a core class (1-7), but is required to be considered for a scholarship from Macomb County.

    Description:

    Michigan Citizen Planner offers a seven-week, non-credit course called “Fundamentals of Planning and Zoning” that leads to an optional certificate of completion awarded by MSU Extension. Earning the certificate involves the successful completion of seven core sessions.  Courses are held for consecutive weeks at a local facility. Each session is designed to be approximately 2½ hours in length and includes hands-on learning exercises. The seven core sessions of “Fundamentals of Planning and Zoning” provide a basic skill set and are required for certification. Participants with limited time may enroll in individual sessions of their choosing.
