  • Ag Action Day (January 2018)

    Description:

    Ag Action provides a full day of educational sessions focusing on agriculture, food safety and home gardening topics, featuring a trade show highlighting products and services provided by local businesses.  The Restricted Use Pesticide Exam will be given between 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.  If you are only taking the RUP Exam there will be an admission fee of $5 for entrance to Ag Action. This fee does not include lunch or cost of the exam.

  • Great Lakes Fruit, Vegetable, Farm Market, and Greenhouse Growers Expo (December 2018)

    Description:

    The Expo is one of the premier trade shows of its kind. There are over 450 exhibitors with displays of everything needed to grow, harvest, and pack fruit and vegetables, as well as an area featuring companies with products and services for farm marketers. Over three days, the program includes 70+ sessions on fruit crops, vegetable crops, other specialty crops, greenhouse crop production and marketing, farm marketing ideas and operations, farmers’ markets and organic production and marketing. There will also be sessions covering a diversity of general interest topics, including food safety and labor.

    Presentations will be made by researchers and Extension educators from Michigan State University, other Land Grant universities and industry. Many of the education sessions will offer credits for Michigan and Ohio Private and Commercial Pesticide Applicators and Certified Crop Advisors.

  • Michigan Family Farms Annual Conference (February 2018)

    Description:

    The MFFC is a forum for beginning, small-scale and culturally diverse farmers to network, learn and build sustainable family farms. For the past eleven years, the conference has helped connect farmers from across the state to important resources and learn how to make their farms more sustainable and more viable. Some topics include: Food safety and post-harvest processing; relocalizing small grains to niche markets; the Farm Bill and USDA programs; rotational grazing; integrated pest management; choosing the right farmers market; workshops in Spanish; racial equity and food justice; beginning farmer initiatives; the Study-A-Farm program; and programs for youth.

  • Michigan Greenhouse Growers Expo - Annual Conference and Trade Show (December 2017)

    Description:

    The Michigan Greenhouse Growers Expo, in coordination with the Great Lakes Fruit, Vegetable, and Farm Market Expo, offers educational sessions and workshops covering topics such as: fruit and vegetable commodities; greenhouse production and marketing; farm marketing ideas and issues; and special interest topics for growers. The Expo also offers tours to area greenhouses and gardens.  The trade show has more than 380 exhibitors covering 4 acres of exhibit space.

  • Michigan Organic Farming Exchange

    Description:

    The Michigan Organic Farming Exchange site offers agricultural producers and farmers with technical information and guidance to manage soil, grow organic crops and identify profitable markets. The exchange provides information to farmers and consumers interested in understanding organic production methods and suggests ways to successfully transition conventional production to organic-certified or not.

    Description:

    Michigan State University Extension will be offering five live webinars on ornamental nursery and Christmas tree production topics. This series will enable you to more effectively manage insects, diseases, nematodes on field-grown nursery crops and Christmas trees. Two pesticide recertification credits will be offered per webinar for participants from Michigan.

    Description:

    WorldTAP (World Technology Access Program), an international training and capacity building program, facilitates the exchange of knowledge, information, and technologies with the global community. More than 500 international scientists, policy makers, and senior administrators from the public and private sectors have received training through these programs. Through training and technology transfer and by enhancing the capacity of developing countries to access new and emerging technologies, WorldTAP's programs have had tremendous impact in terms of building human resources in these countries. WorldTAP offers several services including: Short courses, visitor programs, assessments and studies, PBS training, and the Borlaug Fellowship Program.
