  • Great Lakes Fruit, Vegetable, Farm Market, and Greenhouse Growers Expo (December 2018)

    Description:

    The Expo is one of the premier trade shows of its kind. There are over 450 exhibitors with displays of everything needed to grow, harvest, and pack fruit and vegetables, as well as an area featuring companies with products and services for farm marketers. Over three days, the program includes 70+ sessions on fruit crops, vegetable crops, other specialty crops, greenhouse crop production and marketing, farm marketing ideas and operations, farmers’ markets and organic production and marketing. There will also be sessions covering a diversity of general interest topics, including food safety and labor.

    Presentations will be made by researchers and Extension educators from Michigan State University, other Land Grant universities and industry. Many of the education sessions will offer credits for Michigan and Ohio Private and Commercial Pesticide Applicators and Certified Crop Advisors.

    Description:

    The MSU Pesticide Safety Education Program offers IPM certification training and updates for pesticide applicators and provides education and information for applicators and the general public about pesticide safety. Events include: Pesticide Credit Clinics - MNLA & MSU PSEP; Core Manual/RUP Review, Pest and Crop Management Update Meetings; Soybean Management Research and Technology (SMART) Meetings; Core Review; Pesticide Applicator Core Manual Review; Restricted Use Pesticide Training; and Pesticide Certification Review Sessions.

  • Michigan Greenhouse Growers Expo - Annual Conference and Trade Show (December 2017)

    Description:

    The Michigan Greenhouse Growers Expo, in coordination with the Great Lakes Fruit, Vegetable, and Farm Market Expo, offers educational sessions and workshops covering topics such as: fruit and vegetable commodities; greenhouse production and marketing; farm marketing ideas and issues; and special interest topics for growers. The Expo also offers tours to area greenhouses and gardens.  The trade show has more than 380 exhibitors covering 4 acres of exhibit space.

  • Southeast Michigan Vegetable Meeting (February 2018)

    Description:

    This meeting will cover the following topics: disease management; insects; cover-cropping; weeds; fertility and plant nutrition; and nematodes.  Coffee, snacks, and lunch are provided. RUP credits have been requested.

  • Southwest Michigan Horticulture Days (February 2018)

    Description:

    Southwest Horticulture Days is a trade show, an opportunity to continue education, and a social event for horticultural crop producers in Southwest Michigan. We will have material on wine grapes, juice grapes, tree fruit, blueberries, vegetables and small direct-market farmers. Southwest Hort Days 2018 will feature educational sessions taken to the next level with experts from around the state and around the nation including a few of your fellow fruit and vegetable growers. Topics of interest will include: climate change, pollinator conservation and cover cropping. The wine grape session will feature a special discussion on techniques to improve color stability in red vinifera both in the vineyard and in the winery. New this year will be a whole session on successfully tapping into the growing direct-market opportunities for fruit and vegetable in our region.
