    Description:

    In the United States, those from ethnic minority backgrounds have rapidly increased in population size. You will be presented with an overview of current research and knowledge on health and mental health as well as service delivery disparities in older people of ethnic-minority background in the United States. Special focus will be given to disparities pertaining to the Hispanic/Latino population, which currently is the largest minority population.

  • Recognizing the Spiritual Dimension in Aging (October 2017)

    Description:

    According to research, there is a strong correlation between health and spirituality for older adults. In this workshop, you will learn a framework for definitions, concepts, insights, and knowledge of the spiritual dimension. Therapeutic interventions and a variety of evidence-based tools/instruments that can be utilized in practice will be discussed.

  • Strategies and Tools for Responding to Elder Abuse and Neglect (September 2017)

    Description:

    In this workshop, you will learn strategies and tools that can be applied in the identification, resolution, or modification of elder abuse cases. You will also be able to identify, examine, and explore options relating to ethical and employment conflicts when reporting abuse. Different types of elder abuse collaborative resources and networks will be introduced and compared.
