4-H Tractor Safety Program for Youth Farm Workers (March - April 2019)

Description:

Program Participants will: Receive 25 Hours of Instruction Covering 48 Core Tasks Gain First-Hand Tractor Operation Experience Receive a Certificate of Completion (upon successful completion of the course). TOPICS COVERED: Farm & Workplace Hazards & Safety Tractor Component Basics Pre-Operation Procedures Operation Basics Tractor-Powered Implements Self Propelled Agricultural Equipment Operation on Public Road ways Basic Maintenance & Repair ATV/UTV Vehicle Safety & More First and Emergencies

Dates:

10-week course offered every Thursday 6:00 pm - 8:45 pm starting March 7th through May 9th

Location:

Monroe County Farm Bureau Meeting Room, 8300 Ida West Road, Ida, MI

Audience:

Youth ages 13-19 years old in Monroe and surrounding counties who are interested in training and certification. Youth must be 14 by the day of the driving test (May 11) to receive the U.S. Dept. of Labor Certificate. Youth 16 to 19 do not need certification for employment but are welcome to participate in the program.
