  • Radiology's Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

    MSU's Department of Radiology recently installed one of the nation's most powerful full-body MRI machines. This 17-ton magnet creates a magnetic field of 3 tesla and provides superior image quality. The MRI diagnostic technique greatly enhances MSU's research and clinical capabilities.

  • Stroke Team

    Location:

    East Lansing, MI

    Description:

    MSU's Department of Neurology and Ophthalmology, in partnership with Sparrow Hospital, offers its Stroke Team as one of its subspecialties. The goal of the team is to quickly identify those patients who are experiencing symptoms of stroke and who might be helped by early intervention including thrombolysis. The Stroke Team evaluates patients in the Emergency Department and provides follow-up during their hospitalization. Through educational programs, the team also works to increase awareness about the signs and symptoms of stroke to facilitate early intervention and prevention. All stroke patients are offered out-patient follow-up at MSU stroke clinic. They also have an active stroke research program which includes stroke genetics, vascular neurobiology and stroke epidemiology.

The Dr. Elwood and Linda Collins Rehab Center team focuses on the whole patient while providing personalized care and consideration to any injury, illness or objective. The team of veterinarians and licensed veterinary technicians understand pain management and condition maintenance through their wealth of experience and advanced training. They work with clients and their primary veterinarian to develop a comprehensive treatment plan that will be explained thoroughly before any therapy is initiated.

    MSU's Veterinary Teaching Hospital accepts challenging cases from veterinary practitioners in Michigan, neighboring states, and Canada, and in general acts as a referral center. Housing the small and large animal hospitals, the Vet hospital is staffed with faculty specialists in different fields of medicine. Well known for having one of the largest caseloads in the nation, the Veterinary Teaching Hospital has undergone extensive renovation to make it one of the most modern patient care facilities in the country.
