  • Spanish Immersion Teacher Workshop (April 2018)

    Description:

    The workshops focus on teaching methodology, cultural content, resources for teaching, practicing the target language, and networking. Topics have included music, teaching with technology, multicultural societies, communicative language teaching, implementing literature in the language classroom, teaching culture, and translation.

En este taller, los participantes explorarán una variedad de aplicaciones para aprovechar sus interacciones en clase (y fuera de clase) con los estudiantes de tecnología avanzada. Además de las aplicaciones mencionadas, los participantes también explorarán EdPuzzle, Textivate, Memrise y Socrative. Todos los participantes saldrán con actividades de ejemplo y uno o dos ejemplos creados durante la sesión.

  • Spanish Language Instruction for Adults (February - April 2018)

    Description:

    Did you know that Spanish is the second most studied language in the world?  Advance your practical communication skills in Spanish with our experienced language instructors, interact with other like-minded people in class, and learn about the nuances of how to navigate a different culture. Experience the joy of being back on campus through this enriching opportunity that will help you keep your brain fit and stay sharp intellectually. Our small group sizes and supplemental online resources provide hands-on learning experiences for individuals with and without prior foreign language knowledge. 

    In Spring 2018, Spanish for Beginners/Advanced Beginners is offered.

    All classes meet in Wells Hall on campus. There will be no class meetings during MSU's Spring Break (March 5-9). Classes will be canceled if fewer than 8 people register.

  • Spartan Youth Programs Website

    Description:

    The Spartan Youth Programs Website is a catalog of the programs and activities MSU offers to preK through 12th graders on a variety of topics, including: agriculture; animal care; art, drama, and music; business; college preparation; computers; engineering; leadership skills; math and science; social studies; sports and fitness; and writing and language.

    Description:

    This free 30-hour course provides an overview of the pre-modern history and culture of China, Japan, and Korea with a special emphasis on pedagogy, best practices, Common Core connections, and teaching resources. This seminar is designed to assist middle and high school teachers.

    This one-day workshop for teachers of Japanese will provide information about best practices, methodology and pedagogy, assessment, materials, and more. The workshop is free, though participant registration is required. Lunch will be provided.
