    Description:

    The Center for Service-Learning and Civic Engagement promotes active learning and outreach, focused on civic engagement, in which students serve with non-profit organizations, health and human service agencies, and educational, governmental and other publicly funded institutions to help meet needs and/or address issues that have been identified by the communities in which the students are involved. Structurally, service-learning and civic engagement at MSU support curricular and co-curricular service-learning, interdisciplinary and cross-unit collaborations related to service, and service-learning in pre-college programs. Over 300 local, national, and international community partners list more than 900 placement opportunities with the Center.

    Description:

    The reports, guides, proceedings, and periodicals produced by MSU's Office of University Outreach and Engagement:

    help foster a national discussion about what it means for an institution to meet its responsibilities both to the public and to scholarship through community engagement;
    address questions regarding the responsibility of public universities to the constituencies and society they serve;
    help implement the University’s commitment to serving the public with the knowledge resources of a major research university.

  • Summer Intensive on Community-Engaged Scholarship (June 2019)

    Description:

    This Summer Intensive that focuses on community-engaged research and community-engaged teaching and learning, including service-learning and community-based research in classes. The Summer Intensive is composed of interactive workshops, lunches in disciplinary clusters and with senior community-engaged scholars, dialogue with community partners, and time to develop your own community engagement plan for your return to campus.
