A field technician certified by the ultrasound Guidelines Council is available to perform ultrasound scanning for beef cattle to evaluate carcass merit for breeding selection and market readiness. Breeders can scan yearling bulls and heifers for carcass traits and have this information included in National Cattle Evaluation ultrasound EPDs.

The MSU Beef Extension Team will once again be organizing regional Bull Breeding Soundness Exam
Clinics. Last year, the program tested over 300 bulls for 110 different operations. By identifying these
potential male fertility problems, producers were able to reduce the risk of a less than optimum
breeding season. The MSUE Beef Team encourages you to have BSE conducted on your breeding
bulls every year.

The MSU Training Center for Dairy Professionals provides specialized training, facilities, and demonstration materials for veterinary students, veterinarians, and other professionals working in the dairy industry, as well as an infrastructure for clinical research in the health management of dairy cows. The Center, located at Green Meadow Farms in Elsie, Michigan, makes use of the Farm's large dairy herd, modern facilities, and progressive management techniques, as well as the College's faculty and facilities to provide a cutting-edge, mutidisciplinary approach to dairy management.
