    Description:

    MSU's Community Music School established the Music Therapy Clinical Services to provide music therapy treatment for special-needs clients in the Greater Lansing community. Special needs that are often effectively treated by music therapy techniques are those typically arising from medical illnesses, handicapping conditions (such as developmental disabilities and physical impairments), specific learning disabilities, and aging. Services are offered in individual or group settings, as appropriate for the client's needs and abilities.

  • Developmental Disabilities and Dementia: Where Do They Meet? (November 2018)

    Description:

    In this workshop, you will learn about the risk of dementia for those with developmental disabilities, the unique signs and symptoms of dementia in this population, how to screen for suspected dementia and respond to the changes that occur. Some of the changes that will be discussed include those in communication, self-care, and behavior. You will learn about interventions that are based on/incorporate a person-centered approach to care and the philosophy of behavior as communication, which is central to best dementia-care practices.     Description:

    Pediatric Grand Rounds are a weekly conference series designed for pediatricians, trainees, and others who are interested in the health care of children. The goal is to provide continuing education on the latest scholarly and research information in pediatrics in order to improve the health care of children in our communities and across our State. It takes place (with some exceptions) on Thursday mornings at 8 am in the main auditorium at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing.

    Description:

    Pediatric Subspecialty Conferences are a weekly case conference series designed for pediatricians, pediatric subspecialists, trainees, and others who are interested in the health care of children. The goal is to provide continuing education in a case presentation format to enhance the care we provide to children with complex medical problems and clinical presentations. It takes place on Thursday mornings at 9:15 a.m. in the Sparrow Regional Neonatal ICU Conference Room (5th floor). This conference series has a rotating schedule with Journal Club, which reviews current research pertinent to the care of our pediatric patients, and cases from the Pediatric Ward, the Pediatric ICU, the Neonatal ICU, and our Pediatric Subspecialty Clinics.
