    Description:

    MSU's Department of Radiology offers bone densitometry services. Bone densitometry is used to diagnose the density of bone for increased risk of fracture. A very minimal amount of X-ray is used to scan the hip and lower back. A bone density screening is suggested every 2 years.

  • Master of Science in Nursing Adult Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist with Nurse Education Concentration Program (Online)

  • Master of Science in Nursing with Nurse Practitioner Concentration: Hybrid Program

    This ‘hybrid’ program combines online learning, clinical simulations and face-to-face classroom activities with community-based clinical practice experiences.

    Description:

    This program is designed to prepare Advanced Practice Registered Nurses who wish to pursue a graduate education and gain the clinical competency necessary to deliver primary healthcare to diverse populations in community settings. Students may choose specialization in Adult/Gerontological (ANP/GNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP).

  • Responsive Care for Older Adults in Pain (April 2019)

    Geriatric clients frequently have challenging behaviors that can make the provision of care difficult. Unfortunately, pain is oftentimes at the root of these behaviors, including depressive symptoms. Poorly managed pain diminishes quality of life for older adults and can exacerbate disease. This two-hour workshop will provide you with an improved understanding of the multidimensional nature of pain and effective treatment strategies. Skill Level: Beginning *Clinical and Macro Practice

  • Sexual Health, Sexuality, and Aging (March 2019)

    This workshop will briefly review some of the physical, psychological, and social changes associated with aging that impact sexual health. Sexual health will be discussed as part of a comprehensive assessment and a framework for sexual health discussions will be provided. We will also discuss some of the different needs associated with aging for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community.
