    MSU's Center for Advanced Study of International Development (CASID) promotes and coordinates the work of faculty and students interested in developing countries from the perspectives of the social sciences and liberal arts. CASID has a strong commitment to its outreach mission serving K-12 teachers and students, post-secondary institutions, government, and business.  Outreach resources include: Publications; K-12 Outreach (LATTICE); Midwest Institute for International/Intercultural Education; International Business Institute for Community College Faculty, and International Business Center (CIBER).

    Description:

    Eye on Africa is a weekly seminar series that provides scholars, policy-makers, applied practitioners, students, and the interested public with cutting-edge and highly-contextualized knowledge about the African continent. Emerging and established scholars share the results of their recent research, with time for audience questions and comments. The series draws on a diverse group of presenters to create an inclusive, holistic view of African history, social movements, the economy, and politics.

  • Global Business Club of Mid-Michigan Luncheon Speaker Series

    Description:

    The Global Business Club of Mid-Michigan focuses on global issues of interest to the mid-Michigan business community. In this role, the GB Club is dedicated to supporting global business growth of the State of Michigan and its diverse manufacturing and service organizations. The main activity of the GB Club is the luncheon speaker series.

    The monthly GB Club luncheons provide outstanding speakers and relaxed networking opportunities. With extensive international experience, the speakers wrap personal insights around a practical and up-to-the-minute approach to conducting international trade.

  • International Short Course: Agricultural Biotechnology and Biosafety (August 2018)

    Description:

    Education and awareness on various aspects of agricultural biotechnology including environmental biosafety and food safety issues will help assist government agencies various stakeholders make informed decisions on genetically engineered crops and products. This program is designed to help participants better understand various issues surrounding the use and management of agricultural biotechnology globally.  The focus of this training program is on biotechnology research, policies and regulations, management, and public outreach components as well as biotechnology related trade issues.

    The Center for Anti-Counterfeiting and Product Protection (A-CAPP) and Global Business Club of Mid-Michigan (GB Club) are pleased to present the 1st Annual World IP Day Michigan: Protecting Your Brand Globally. World IP day is celebrated every year on April 26 in order to remember the role that intellectual property rights (patents, trademarks, industrial designs, copyright) play in encouraging innovation and creativity. Join us for a half day interactive program discussing how Michigan companies can play in a vital role in the world economy and share their best practices on how they protect their intellectual property. Our three panels will focus on: Packaging Challenges & Opportunities, IP Issues in E-Commerce, and Emerging Markets: Best practices for IP issues.
