  • ADA In the Workplace - Joint Management of Disability Programs

    Description:

    In the spirit of comprehensive coverage, the Americans with Disabilities Act is often ambiguous, making the opportunity for conflict within the workplace high. ADA in the Workplace - Joint Management of Disability Programs provides participants with a set of tools that enables them to anticipate and mediate conflicts before they become disputes. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) provides a mechanism for protecting qualified disabled individuals from discriminatory actions on the part of employers with 15 or more employees.

    The Advanced Master Certificate in Integrated Supply Chain Management provides the knowledge of leading global research faculty, case studies, real-world strategies and examples, as well as networking opportunities to help you master all facets of integrated supply chain management. The essential tools and techniques you’ll gain will take your supply chain management skills and knowledge to a higher level. They’ll also lay the foundation as you start your intensive exploration with Supply Chain Management I & II, then progress through  each eight-week focus course building on your knowledge and proficiency as you complete the program.  There are five courses in this program.

  • Agile Project Management: Online, Interactive Program (June 2020)

    Agile Project Management will be held live, in real-time, through an online learning platform.

    Description:

    Agile has quickly become the go-to project management approach for a wide range of industries. This program covers the essentials of agile project management and contrasts traditional (or waterfall) project management practices to Agile and Iterative methods. You will learn how to initiate, plan, and schedule an Agile project; how to estimate using story points and ideal days; and how to monitor performance against the plan.

    You will leave this program understanding how best to apply Agile –in concert with or instead of traditional methods– for your organization’s projects. Throughout the day, there will be interactive activities, and the day ends with a simulation that works through an actual agile project management process where you will get to apply the tools, methodologies, and philosophy of Agile.

    Description:

    Michigan State University partners with colleges and universities across the state to offer regionally relevant agricultural training programs for careers in some of Michigan's highest demand industries. Students will benefit from dual enrollment at both institutions with all courses delivered locally at the partnering institution.

    The 55-credit Agricultural Operations program provides students with a solid background in plant and soil science, precision agriculture, water management, entomology, plant pathology and business management. It exposes students to exciting opportunities available in the industry.

    Description:

    In order to meet the needs of a changing business environment, the Eli Broad College of Business is offering a certificate series in BPM. Through three classroom modules, this series provides tools and techniques needed to transform business operations. This certificate program will teach participants how to reduce costs, optimize profits, increase capacity, slash service times, provide a better customer experience, and compete through effective process management.

    Broad College’s Business Process Management Certificate is compatible with the Association of Business Process Management Professionals’ (ABPMP) Comprehensive Body of Knowledge.

    Description:

    MSU's Union Management Initiatives offers a wide range of open-enrollment workshops and site-specific interventions.  Exploring and Designing Workplace Teams assists labor and management participants in increasing the knowledge and skills they need to build a strong foundation for teams. Unionized organizations have a unique opportunity to improve organizational performance through the joint design, implementation, and oversight of workplace teams. With labor and management participating fully and equally in the process, the organization creates a base for achieving results greater than might be achieved through a unilateral approach.

  • Improving the Effectiveness of Joint Labor-Management Relationships Workshop

    Description:

    This two-day interactive workshop is designed to assist organizations in improving the functioning of their current labor-management relationship and, where desired, strengthen the foundation on which a range of joint labor-management initiatives might be built. The program engages labor and management in a process in which they assess their readiness and capability to work more effectively together, construct a vision of their future relationship that they can each commit to, and identify the barriers that they must address to improve the effectiveness of their relationship.

    Description:

    Effective communication is a critical skill that all leaders and managers need to master. Offered though the Broad College of Business, Leadership Through Communication Excellence and Critical Conversations is a two-day interactive program designed to help participants foster business discussions that matter. The relationship between leadership presence and communication effectiveness is explored, as is the art of having difficult conversations.

    Using interactive sessions and research-based presentations, participants will discover and develop their own communication styles. Participants will leave with strategies to maintain their leadership credibility, tools to navigate important conversations, and the ability to build stronger business relationships.

    Description:

    MSU's Management Education Center is a professional conference, training, and educational facility used primarily for management education and organizational development by business, labor, government, and trade associations. Facilities include a 400-seat auditorium, two 110-seat ampitheaters, four flexible-configuration break-out rooms, three dining rooms, as well as a patio and mezzanine great for receptions and display areas. Roughly 20 percent of its activities involve the Advanced Management Program (Executive MBA) and other executive programs sponsored by The Eli Broad College of Business and The Eli Broad Graduate School of Management. The other 80 percent of the Center’s activities involve corporate and business programs outside the University.
