    The Healthcare Packaging Immersion Experience is a unique educational event that brings together medical device packaging professionals and healthcare practitioners in a state-of-the-art healthcare simulation facility at Michigan State University (MSU). Participants at this conference will:

    • Study the performance of medical device packaging in the operating room and emergency department environments.
    • Interact and exchange ideas with experienced patient care teams currently working in the industry.
    • Address current trends, needs, problems and solutions in medical device packaging.
  • Master of Science in Packaging (Online)




    The Master of Science in Packaging is a 30-credit, online program, designed to give a broad education in packaging and to strengthen skills in analyzing social, scientific, environmental, and business problems associated with packaging. The program includes classes in medical packaging, advanced packaging dynamics, permeability and shelf life, polymeric packaging materials, stability and recyclability of packaging materials, and value relationships in packaging. This Plan B (non-thesis) program requires completion of 30 credits and can be completed in about three years by averaging one course per semester including summer semesters. The time commitment for an online course averages 10 to 15 hours per week.


  • Packaging Contract Research and Testing Services


    MSU's School of Packaging offers routine, fee-based testing services for industry. At least sixteen tests are offered, including drop testing, vibration testing, oxygen permeability, Izod impact testing, and others. Other testing services and contract research are available in many areas of package analysis and evaluation.
