    Description:

    The mission of the Center for Systems Integration and Sustainability is to develop and maintain a center of excellence that integrates ecology with socioeconomics, demography, and other disciplines for ecological sustainability from local, national, to global scales. The objectives include: conducting cutting-edge research on emerging issues related to ecological sustainability; training new generations of leading scholars for interdisciplinary research; and disseminating research findings across the globe.

  • Michigan Organic Farming Exchange

    Description:

    The Michigan Organic Farming Exchange site offers agricultural producers and farmers with technical information and guidance to manage soil, grow organic crops and identify profitable markets. The exchange provides information to farmers and consumers interested in understanding organic production methods and suggests ways to successfully transition conventional production to organic-certified or not.

    Description:

    Join MSU Student Organic Farm’s Outreach Coordinator, Adam Montri, for an informal tour of the fields, hoophouses, CSA distribution room, transplant greenhouse, and more with plenty of opportunities to ask questions about all parts of the Student Organic Farm. There is no charge for these tours due to funding from the USDA Rick Management Agency.

  • South Campus Field Research Facilities

    The station’s 2,739 acres of farmland and forest are located south of Mt. Hope Road on MSU’s south campus.

    Description:

    There are 18 research facilities located on the south campus of MSU that allow AgBioResearch scientists to perform research in the areas of animal science and production, plant production and protection, environment and natural resources management, and renewable energy. State-of-the-art facilities and 2,739 acres of farmland and forest allow scientists to perform research close to campus and allow growers to view a number of demonstration plots in one visit to the university.

    WorldTAP draws upon expertise from Michigan State University and around the world to offer short-term and long-term training programs, advisory services and consultations in diverse areas of agricultural research and development. WorldTAP helps build human resources, provides access to information resources, and facilitates technology transfer to enhance agricultural productivity and food security.

    WorldTAP offers expertise, training and capacity building programs in the following areas: agricultural biotechnology, intellectual property rights and technology transfer, environmental biosafety, food safety, food processing, packaging and value addition, animal agriculture, science and technology communication, water management and agroecology, integrated pest management and sustainable agriculture.
