    Description:

    The Forest Carbon and Climate Program is partnering with the Forest-Climate Working Group to offer a curated Learning Exchange Series on forest carbon and climate issues to group members and the public.

    The Forest-Climate Working Group (FCWG), a diverse group of forest interests including landowners, industry, conservationists, academia and carbon market interests, has worked together for more than eight years to leverage the full potential of U.S. forests and forest products to provide climate change solutions. This group seeks to engage their members in learning experiences to grow internal knowledge and capacity in the group, bring into new ideas and expertise, and inform current and upcoming discussions on policy and strategy around the topic of forest carbon management.

    Description:

    The MSU Department of Forestry offers the Hanover Seminar Series, in which forestry experts from MSU and other institutions discuss issues affecting our forests and forest ecological communities.

  • Michigan Forests Forever Teaching Resources

    Description:

    Michigan Forests Forever is an effort to provide information to teachers and classrooms about Michigan's forests and forestry. The project consists of three components: a CD-ROM, an award-winning video, and an online Teacher's Guide. The Teacher's Guide is correlated to the Michigan Curriculum Framework Standards and Benchmarks. Topics covered in the materials include: Tree Basics; The Environment; Wood Products; Forest; Recreation; The Balancing Act; Fun Fast Forest Facts.  Also included is a field-tested forestry curriculum designed to provide students with an overview of forest management, with an emphasis on the connection between natural resources and utilization.

  • National Firewood Workshop (June 2018)
