  • Great Lakes Fruit, Vegetable, Farm Market, and Greenhouse Growers Expo (December 2018)

    DeVos Place Convention Center and the Amway Grand Hotel, 303 Monroe Avenue NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49503

    Description:

    The Expo is one of the premier trade shows of its kind. There are over 450 exhibitors with displays of everything needed to grow, harvest, and pack fruit and vegetables, as well as an area featuring companies with products and services for farm marketers. Over three days, the program includes 70+ sessions on fruit crops, vegetable crops, other specialty crops, greenhouse crop production and marketing, farm marketing ideas and operations, farmers’ markets and organic production and marketing. There will also be sessions covering a diversity of general interest topics, including food safety and labor.

    Presentations will be made by researchers and Extension educators from Michigan State University, other Land Grant universities and industry. Many of the education sessions will offer credits for Michigan and Ohio Private and Commercial Pesticide Applicators and Certified Crop Advisors.

  • Introduction to Landscape Design Concepts (December 2017)

    Description:

    Great garden design combines the science of horticulture with basic artistic principals to create a harmonious living space.  Rebecca will demonstrate through a presentation and interactive discussion how you can use basic design concepts such as repetition, scale and unity along with common artistic principals of color, texture and line to enhance any size garden.

  • Michigan Greenhouse Growers Expo - Annual Conference and Trade Show (December 2017)

    DeVos Place Convention Center and the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel, Grand Rapids, MI.

    Description:

    The Michigan Greenhouse Growers Expo, in coordination with the Great Lakes Fruit, Vegetable, and Farm Market Expo, offers educational sessions and workshops covering topics such as: fruit and vegetable commodities; greenhouse production and marketing; farm marketing ideas and issues; and special interest topics for growers. The Expo also offers tours to area greenhouses and gardens.  The trade show has more than 380 exhibitors covering 4 acres of exhibit space.

  • Michigan Turfgrass Conference (January 2018)

    Description:

    The purpose of this conference is to present the latest findings in turfgrass management, fertility, soils, diseases, weeds, varieties, pesticides and other timely topics pertaining to the industry. The MTF and MSU are planning on delivering a very informative and rewarding education package offering CEU's from MDARD as well as the GCSAA. There will be three days of education to increase awareness, education, and interest in the Turfgrass Industry.

  • MSU Turf School (December 2017)

    Description:

    The MSU Turf School is an intensive, four-day course designed to teach the basics of turfgrass science as well as the practical techniques of managing turfgrass. The school will be “team taught” by MSU turfgrass faculty and staff. The curriculum is designed to deliver a wide range of turfgrass management topics including basic soils and soil management, turfgrass species identification, selection and physiology, turf establishment and renovation, fertilization, proper pesticide use, and environmental stewardship. A significant portion of the school is dedicated to weed, insect, and disease identification and management. The pest management section is delivered in lecture and laboratory settings with hands-on learning emphasized.
