The Institute for Arts & Creativity at the Wharton Center provides meaningful, participatory lifelong learning programs both at Wharton Center and throughout the state for audiences of all ages. The Institute also serves a role in helping Wharton Center serve as an industry leader and advocate to help bolster the cultural and economic vitality of the community and the state; present a diverse selection of performing arts experiences with world-class artists and newly commissioned works; advance the arts by presenting Michigan’s finest arts organizations; and strive to ensure that the diversity of our community is reflected on our stage and in our audience.
MSU's Cultural Engagement Council (CEC), the organizing body behind the Year of Arts and Culture, is composed of leaders of allied cultural units, outreach, and student life. The CEC strives to increase the visibility of campus cultural resources and facilitate expanded MSU cultural engagement among our students and across Michigan, nationally, and internationally. The CEC seeks to build among students and the community a common understanding of the importance of culture through new and innovative partnerships and collaborations; and to enhance teaching and research in all aspects of the study of culture.
