    Description:

    The Healthcare Packaging Immersion Experience is a unique educational event that brings together medical device packaging professionals and healthcare practitioners in a state-of-the-art healthcare simulation facility at Michigan State University (MSU). Participants at this conference will:

    • Study the performance of medical device packaging in the operating room and emergency department environments.
    • Interact and exchange ideas with experienced patient care teams currently working in the industry.
    • Address current trends, needs, problems and solutions in medical device packaging.
  • Interprofessional Teaming Online Healthcare Module

    Description:

    The online module, Creating a Culture of Collaboration and Interprofessional Teaming, looks at core competencies for application in practice, serving patients who have multiple comorbidities and complex healthcare needs. This offering also serves to educate preceptors in guiding students of interprofessional partners within the clinical setting.  At the conclusion of this online offering, the interprofessional learner will be able to:

    • Describe the foundations of interprofessional education
    • Discuss the four core competencies of interprofessional education and collaboration, and
    • Discuss the challenges related to facilitating team building with health professions students to provide population centered care.

    This program complies with the requirements for continuing nursing education (CNE) and provide one (1.0) contact hour. No conflict of interest is disclosed by the presenters or planners of this offering.

  • Managing Biomedical Laboratory Operations Online Certificate Program

    Description:

    The Michigan State University (MSU) Biomedical Laboratory Diagnostics Program offers a Certificate Program in Managing Biomedical Laboratory Operations.  Completion of the three courses is required for the certificate, though individual course enrollment is possible with appropriate prerequisites.

    The Certificate Program includes the following courses:

    • BLD 842, 2 credits – Managing Biomedical Laboratory Operations  - participants will learn the integration of the roles of legislative, regulatory, technological, and economic factors which influence the practice and management of biomedical laboratory operations
    • BLD 844, 1 credit – Topics in Biomedical Laboratory Operations – current issues relevant to biomedical laboratory operations from an interdisciplinary perspective with an emphasis on efficient laboratory operations.
    •  BLD 846, 2 credits – Decision processes for Biomedical Laboratory Operations – integrates scientific principles, management principles, and regulatory factors in the form of case studies as a means to cover strategies for decision-making in the operations of a biomedical laboratory.
  • Michigan Health Policy Forum

    Description:

    The Michigan Health Policy Forum was established in 1986 by a bipartisan group of healthcare stakeholders from state government, health organizations, the community and academia. Michigan State University is proud to have served as the convener and administrator of the forum for its 30 year history. The purpose of the Forum is to provide policymakers with an opportunity to learn about and discuss health policy issues in an atmosphere free from partisan demands. The Forum is guided by an Advisory Board of health policy stakeholders who provide recommendations on the topics and speakers presented by the Forum.

  • Nursing Home Administration Courses (2019 - 2020)

    Description:

    The Nursing Home Administration Program offers 144 clock-hours of instruction in four units, each involving Saturday sessions. To complete the program, participants must attend 128 clock hours (90%) and pass a comprehensive final exam for each unit.

    •     Unit 1 covers leadership, labor and management contracts, affirmative action, wages, legal    issues, HIPPA
    •     Unit 2 covers aging process, gerontology and geriatric infection control, nutrition, pharmacy.
    •     Unit 3 covers General and States Rules/Regulations for Dietary Services in Long Term Care Facilities, medicare, fire safety.
    •     Unit 4 covers accounting and budget, recreational, medicaid, and insurance.
