    Today’s workforce includes five generations: Silent Generation, Baby Boomers, Generation X, Millennials, and Generation Z.  Each generation has a distinct culture, bringing positive attributes and skills to the workplace.  Understanding and appreciating what each generation offers as employees and contributors to the organization can elevate your ability to manage and lead.  This session will focus on how to utilize generational differences to achieve more effective management, successful teamwork, positive morale and high performance.

  • Exploring and Designing Workplace Teams Workshop

    Description:

    MSU's Union Management Initiatives offers a wide range of open-enrollment workshops and site-specific interventions.  Exploring and Designing Workplace Teams assists labor and management participants in increasing the knowledge and skills they need to build a strong foundation for teams. Unionized organizations have a unique opportunity to improve organizational performance through the joint design, implementation, and oversight of workplace teams. With labor and management participating fully and equally in the process, the organization creates a base for achieving results greater than might be achieved through a unilateral approach.

  • Managing Organizational Change: How To Gain Organization-Wide Ownership For New Solutions (June 2018)

    Description:

    Constant improvements in technology and process capabilities coupled with increasing customer demands continue to redefine the nature of the workplace.  Implementing solutions typically requires both technical and behavioral change.  While technical challenges can, of course, be daunting, dealing with the human aspects of change is far and away the more difficult challenge.  This workshop will address critical behavioral change management concepts, and arm you with the strategies and tools that will help you manage change at both the organization and individual level.

    Think about all the situations within a typical organization in which change management is required.  Organizational redesign often forces role and responsibility shifts that can be very difficult for staff to accept.  Cross-functional improvement projects usually result in changes that make some departments apparent “winners” and others apparent “losers.”  On a more micro level, fear of change can undermind brainstorming and problem-solving meetings.  In short: The techniques learned in this course have broad application in your workplace.

  • Maximizing Sales Team Performance: Transitioning from Individual Contributor to Sales Team Leader (May 2018)

This program is designed to build the skills that sales managers need to maximize organizational performance.
